Employee Spotlight: Project Manager Terell Henry

April 15, 2024

What does one of the silliest sports movies of all time have in common with the team behind Sturgeon’s emergence as an industry leader? A lot, actually. In 2006’s “Talladega Nights,” NASCAR hero Ricky Bobby lives by a philosophy that project manager Terell Henry brings to work every day: “If you ain’t first, you’re last.”

Terell, who joined Sturgeon in July 2020, is everywhere: managing multiple projects simultaneously, prepping inventory and ensuring it’s properly accounted for, creating sales lists, and testing devices like desktop computers, laptops, and tablets before they go out to customers. His ability to coordinate these tasks effectively ensures that our daily operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Leadership is a key aspect of Terell's role, as he oversees a team of three employees. Together, they tackle the complexities of project management, from inventory management to completing projects on time. He takes great pride in his team's ability to complete projects on or before schedule. “We’re highly efficient and nimble, which enables us to pivot as needed throughout a project,” said Terell. His commitment to efficiency is invaluable in the fast-paced tech industry.

He may bring Ricky Bobby-level drive to his efforts for our customers, but also knows what a good laugh can do for a determined team. “I try not to be so serious all the time with everything because that is exhausting,” said Terell. “I just try to keep it on the lighter side of things, and I think everyone kind of embodies that here.”

Terell brings a unique personal touch to his role. He interacts with nearly everyone in the company, injecting a sense of humor and light-heartedness into his interactions. This approach not only makes the work environment more enjoyable but also fosters a positive company culture.

The company culture at Sturgeon is something Terell cherishes deeply. He appreciates the fun, positive environment, which he contributes to by maintaining a laid-back approach to his work. This culture, he believes, is rare, especially in technical fields, and it's something that makes Sturgeon a great place to work.

Terell's journey to Sturgeon is as interesting as his role. With no prior experience in IT, he transitioned from various service industry jobs into the tech field. Now, with nearly 4 years under his belt at Sturgeon, Terell has found his passion and made a significant impact. His experience underscores the value of diversifying one's skill set and embracing new challenges.

Looking ahead, Terell aims to continue growing within the company, taking on bigger and more intensive projects. His commitment to his role, coupled with his passion for technology and sustainability, positions him as a key player in Sturgeon's future success.

Terell's story is a testament to the impact that dedication, adaptability, and a positive attitude can have in the workplace. He is a shining example of the potential within each employee to contribute significantly to their company's success and culture.

Thank you, Terell, for all your hard work and dedication!
